Texas Twelve Scout League: Game Reports and Notes (July 13-16)

Thursday, July 13th 

2025 Texas Twelve Grey vs. 2025 Texas Twelve Blue 

Dylan Pekar showed real potential while on the mound for 2025 Texas Twelve Blue. Pekar is a southpaw from College Station High School. He went 5.0 innings with five strikeouts and only allowed one hit. He has natural run on his fastball paired with a solid 12-6 curve. Pekar does a nice job at getting outs and inducing weak contact. He throws strikes consistently and mixes up locations well. The offense was led by leadoff hitter Fred Kirschner out of Columbia High School. Kirschner hit a leadoff triple on the first pitch he saw providing a solid base of momentum throughout the game. Kirschner is a left-handed outfielder with speed and a good first step. He makes solid reads defensively. 

2025 South Texas Twelve Blue vs 2025 Texas Twelve Grey 

Jaxson Thompson led the way to victory for 2025 Texas Twelve Grey by tossing 4.0 no-hit innings. Thompson is a tall and lanky left-handed pitcher from Lake Creek High School. He used a fastball at 80-82 MPH, a slider at 68-70 MPH and a changeup at 73-74 MPH. He has a sidearm arm slot, which helps his slider profile. He fills up the zone and constantly put hitters in a 0-2 hole. He commands his fastball well, leading to nine strikeouts and few walks. He missed a lot of barrels with both his slider and fastball and sequenced them nicely. 

2025 Texas Twelve White vs 2025 South Texas Twelve Blue 

Joaquin Montes and Ricky Martinez led the offense for South Texas Twelve Blue in a dominant victory. Martinez out of Calhoun High School is a catcher with some solid pop. He has a big, strong frame, which showed in his ability to impact the baseball. Martinez also had long at-bats, wearing down the pitcher and waiting for a mistake. Montes from Veterans High School also possesses raw power. He’s a first basemen and a RBI machine, recording four in two at-bats. Montes tends to find holes while hitting. He does a great job at going where the pitch takes him, using all parts of the field. 

Friday, July 14th 

2026 Texas Twelve Silver vs 2026 Texas Twelve Red 

Cleanup hitter Landry Mendoza out of Brenham High School contributed big time, sparking a rally with an RBI double in the first inning. After being hit by a pitch, he proceeded to steal second and third shortly after. Chase Tetlow from The Woodlands High School also hits the ball hard with some speed. Tetlow helped his team with a two RBI single that he stretched into a double. He also worked an eight pitch walk later in the game. 

2026 Texas Twelve Silver vs 2026 Texas Twelve White 

2026 Texas Twelve Silver was hot with the bats against 2026 Texas Twelve White. Landry Mendoza once again was outstanding with the bat going 2-for-2 with two singles and three RBI. Keaton Johnson from College Station High School had a solid day as well. Barrett went 1-for-2 with a double and a hard hit out. He also stole third with no throw showing great speed. 

For 2026 Texas Twelve White, the offense was led by shortstop Hunter Clark from Fulshear High School. Clark is an aggressive leadoff hitter, swinging at the first pitch he saw and shooting it in the gap. Defensively, he reacted well at shortstop and made a few solid plays. 

2026 Texas Twelve Blue vs 2026 Texas Twelve Red 

Brody Vaughn from Iola High School pitched 4.0 innings allowing one hit and no earned runs. Vaughn is a left-handed pitch-to-contact kind of guy. He induced weak popouts due to his interesting arm slot and natural movement. Vaughn is the type of pitcher that does his job and throws strikes. Offensively, he made an impact, too. Vaughn went 2-for-3 with two hard-hit singles, tallying four RBI in the process. Cleanup hitter Brock Field from Allen Academy also had a solid game, going 2-for-2 with a double and a single. 


2026 Texas Twelve Grey vs 2026 Texas Twelve White 

Brody Tribe (Columbus High School) was dealing on the mound for 2026 Texas Twelve White. Tribe is a tall right-handed pitcher that pounds the zone. He constantly throws first-pitch strikes and puts the hitter in a hole. He has a decent little slider that moves subtly and finds the zone. Tribe has a fast tempo and is composed on the mound. He struck out five in 4.0 innings of work. 

Jaxson Dotson from Cy Ranch High School also performed well in today’s game. Dotson went 3-for-4 at the plate with three hard-hit singles. He added a couple stolen bags and made difficult plays look routine while playing the infield.

Saturday, July 15th 

2026 Texas Twelve Silver vs 2026 Texas Twelve Grey 

Landry Mendoza (Brenham High School) had a solid game again, this time on the bump. He went 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Mendoza has a thick build with a solid fastball and a decent curve. He likes to attack hitters with his fastball and mixes in his offspeed stuff occasionally. At times, he battled his control, but managed to pitch around traffic on the bases. 

Gunnar Fromme led the team both offensively and defensively for 2026 Texas Twelve Grey. Fromme is a 6-4 lefty hitter and right-handed pitcher from Giddings High School. He has a pretty left-handed swing and keeps his hands inside the ball well. Fromme hit a two-RBI double down the line to help his team. Defensively, Fromme pitched an inning in relief and did well for the most part. He has a unique delivery and pitches to contact. Fromme induced several groundballs in his two innings of work. He throws strikes but lacks a swing and miss pitch. 

2026 South Texas Twelve Blue vs 2026 Texas Twelve Silver 

Aiden Verette put on a show for 2026 South Texas Twelve Blue. Verette is a 6-0 lefty from Smithson Valley High School. He has a three-quarters arm slot and located his fastball well with a slider/cutter mix to compliment the heater. His slider/cutter missed barrels and created whiffs. He struck out six batters, all of them looking. He mixed his pitches well and threw a lot of quality strikes. In total, he struck out eight total in 4.0 innings of work, only allowing two hits. Varette established himself as a two-way talent adding a hard hit single and working a walk. He also stole two bags. 


2026 Texas Twelve Grey vs 2026 South Texas Twelve Grey 

Bentley Blinka carried the offense for 2026 South Texas Twelve Grey. Blinka is a right-handed hitter from St. Joseph’s High School and in his first at-bat, Blinka hit a missile in the gap for a standup triple. Blinka hits the ball hard and does well using the whole field. Later, he took another ball opposite field for a three-RBI double. Immediately after, he ended up stealing third shortly after, putting his team in a good position.

2026 South Texas Twelve Grey vs 2026 Texas Twelve Red 

Yanni Ibikunle from Dr. Thomas Randle High School looks like a really solid player. Ibikunle is a 6-5 right-handed hitter and thrower that primarily plays outfield. He has a well-round skill set, which includes speed. On a hard-hit grounder to shortstop, he beat it out. He also swiped two bags with ease shortly after. Defensively, Ibikunle played a great right field. He has a quality first step and tracks down almost every ball. He made a spectacular diving play as well. Lastly, Ibikunle has a decently strong arm and stopped runners from trying to take an extra bag. 

Sunday, July 16th 

2026 South Texas Twelve Blue vs 2026 South Texas Twelve Grey 

Tristan Mahurin provided the only offense today for 2026 South Texas Twelve Blue. Mahurin is a 6-0 righty from Smithson Valley High School. He hit a stand-up RBI double down the right field line to tie the game. He did a nice job of taking the outside pitch opposite field and had solid power on the ball. 

Julian Colsa from Veterans Memorial High School was an impact defender at second base. He turned a few double plays and handled anything in his range. Colsa also made a diving catch on a line drive to end the inning. He’s locked in every play and shows a high baseball IQ on knowing what to do. Offensively, Colsa added a hard-hit single up the middle. 

2026 South Texas Twelve Blue vs 2026 Texas Twelve White 

Ashton Garza showed potential in his 2.1 innings of work for 2026 South Texas Twelve Blue. Garza is a right-handed pitcher from Earl Warren High School standing at 6-0. On the mound, he’s consistently in attack mode and pitches fearlessly. His standout pitch was a slider, which led to four strikeouts. As he continues to develop, more command and velocity will allow him to take the next step. 

Michael Jace Dixon led the offense going 2-for-2 with two singles, tallying two RBI. Dixon attends Smithson Valley High School. A tough, competitive out in the batter’s box, Dixon routinely battled deep into the count. Lastly, Dixon had strong discipline and knew the zone well.

2026 South Texas Twelve Grey vs 2026 Texas Twelve Blue 

Bentley Blinka established himself as a two-way player today against 2026 Texas Twelve Blue. Blinka had a decent outing on the bump, going 4.0 innings and striking out three. He is a consistent strike thrower and has solid command. His fastball-slider mix worked well against hitters. He put hitters in a hole constantly, leading to a successful day. Offensively, Blinka hit an absolute shot to the wall in the gap, displaying power and speed with a stand-up triple.
