Game Stories: Five Tool AABC World Series Qualifier (Thursday, June 14-Saturday, June 16)

June 14

In a consolation game, Advanced Baseball 18U beat Academy Select Baseball 17U Hayes, 8-7. Player of the game was Bryson Sanchez as he went 2-3 with one double, two runs batted in, one run scored, and one stolen base. Jaidan Quinn went 2-3 with a double, two runs batted in and one run scored. Also to note, Anderson Acinger threw 2.2 no-hit innings striking out two batters.

Dallas Tigers 17U Hernandez beat DFW Twins 17U, 6-5, in a National Division semi-final. Preston King had a nice game going 2-4 with a home run and two runs batted in. He was named player of the game. Pitcher of the game was Joseph Wolf. He threw four one-hit inning striking out two batters. Also to note, Tigers’ Brandon Troxler went 2.2 innings striking out two with one hit and no earned runs allowed. Brenden Dixon went 1-3 with two runs batted in and one run scored. And Adrian Minjares went 2-3 with two doubles, two runs batted in, and one run scored.

In a National Division semi-final, Ropes 18U beat D-BAT Elite Griffin, 6-4. Player of the game was Ethan Mann as he went 2-4 with a double, three runs batted in and one stolen base. Also to note, Harrison Key had a nice game on the mound going 3.1 innings and striking out seven batters.

In an American Division semi-final, HP Baseball Danielson blanked Phenom Texas, 3-0. Pepperdine commit Reed Smith tossed an excellent game going six innings with two hits and six strikeouts. Smith was named player of the game. Hitter of the game was Alex Lopez. He went 2-3 with one double and one RBI. Also to note, Evan Godwin went 1-2 with one double and one RBI.

In an American Division semi-final, Stix 18U Red Johnson beat Lonestar Baseball Mazur, 5-4. Grant Plunkett went 1-3 with a double and three runs batted in. He was named player of the game Reynol Mendoza threw 3.1 innings striking out five on his way to pitcher of the game.

In a consolation game, Kansas City Royals Scout beat Lynx 18U, 10-0. Marcus Smith went 3-4 with two runs batted in and three runs scored. He was named player of the game. Pitcher of the game was Quinton Hall. He threw four innings striking out six. Also to note, Scout’s Braxton Bragg went 2-2 with a double and one run scored. Joseph Sexton went 2-2 with one double.

Ropes 18U Florence beat Dallas Tigers 17U Hernandez, 10-2, in a National Division semi-final game. Ethan Mann went 3-3 with a double, a home run, two runs batted in, and three runs scored. He was named player of the game. Nick Vernas went 1-3 with three runs batted in while Blake Jackson went 2-4 with two runs batted in.

HP Baseball Danielson blanked Stix 18U Red Johnson, 7-0, in the first American Division Championship game. Evan Minarovic threw seven two-hit innings striking out eight batters with no walks and no runs allowed. He was named player of the game. Hitter of the game was Logan Leax who went 2-3 with one double, one RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Also to note, Alex Lopez went 1-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

June 15

HP Baseball Danielson beat Stix Red Johnson, 2-1, in the final of the American Division Championship. Parker Perez hit the walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to win it. For his clutch hitting, he was named player of the game. Pitcher of the game was Coy Sims. He threw 8.2 fearless innings striking out six batters. Also to note, HP’s Luke Nagy went 1-4 with an RBI double to tie the game. Stix’s Grant Plunkett went 1-3 with a double and one RBI. Defensively, Jake Ryan made a terrific dive to save a run while playing center field.

Dallas Tigers 17U Hernandez beat Ropes 18U Florence, 5-2, in the final National Division Championship. Duke Jordan threw 6.1 two-hit innings striking out seven on his way to player of the game. Also to note, Cameron Constantine went 1-2 with an RBI and two runes scored. He swiped two bases in this contest.

June 16

In the first Championship Game from SHSU, Dallas Tigers 17U Hernandez defeated HP Baseball Danielson, 6-0. Chad Ricker threw three one-hit innings keeping HP in tact. He struck out one batter and was named player of the game. Hitter of the game was Cameron Constantine. He went 2-3 with two runs batted in.

In the final Championship Game from SHSU, Dallas Tigers 17U Hernandez beat HP Baseball Danielson, 9-2. Cameron Constantine went 2-4 with a home run and two runs batted in. He scored twice and was named player of the game. Hitter of the game was Jordan Lawlar who went 3-4 with two runs batted in, three runs scored and one stolen base. Pitcher of the game was Joseph Wolf. He threw all seven innings striking out four batters.
