The Five Tool 2020 All-Summer Team is a collection of the top dudes who performed well in Five Tool events this summer. these dudes have been recognized as the best of the best from Five Tool events this summer.
Players were selected based upon a specific set of criteria: each individual that holds a place on the All-Summer Team was either named a ‘Dude of the Weekend’ or was selected as a ‘Dude of the Day’ multiple times. Each member of this team put together some type of dominant performance, or more, this summer to stand out and grab the attention of the Five Tool staff.
The Five Tool 2020 All-Summer Team Honorable Mention is a group of the next set of talented dudes to have performed at a high level in Five Tool events this summer. The collection of players listed below are primarily derived from the summer ‘Dudes of the Day’ list, however many others not given that award have excelled with impressive performances in Five Tool events this summer. This talented list of players, while just missing the cut as being selected to the All-Summer Team, should be recognized for their outstanding play in Five Tool.
Let’s take a look at the Five Tool 2020 All-Summer Team and Honorable Mentions.

Home School (TX) 2021, DBU commit, RHP
Dallas Tigers 2021 Hernandez right-handed pitcher Ryan Johnson came out and pumped some serious gas this summer. The home schooled 2021 Dallas Baptist commit from Red Oak, TX, showcased why many regard him as the premier pitching talent in the 2021 class. The RHP ran his fastball up to 95 MPH and absolutely overwhelmed the opposition. Johnson really gets into his lower half to generate velocity and is a towering presence on the mound. What stands out the most is the 38 strikeouts in 24 innings with no earned runs allowed. Johnson proved to be the top pitcher this summer week in and week out in Five Tool bringing his best stuff to the field.

Prosper (TX) 2022, University of Oklahoma commit, C
Dulins Dodgers catcher Easton Carmichael was a pitcher’s best friend this summer and put together some big time performances. The Oklahoma Sooner commit from Prosper (TX) 2022 impressed at the plate and behind the dish as he was named Most Valuable Catcher from the 2020 Pudge World Classic. The RHH was an on-base machine as he reached base 13 times on that weekend. Carmichael was superb from behind the plate as he threw out three runners on the base paths in the Pudge.

Barbers Hills (TX) 2021, Uncommitted, 1B
Marucci Elite TX 2021 Thames’ Simon Larranaga showcased his best stuff against the best competition. The uncommitted 2021 first baseman from Barbers Hill (TX) was a key piece of an impressive Marucci Elite offense that put up staggering numbers in various events, including a breakout week at the 2020 AABC Don Mattingly World Series. The RHH is quiet with his load but utilizes a violent lower half to drive the ball to all fields. Larranaga turned heads all summer and is going to make a big time collegiate baseball program very happy with the way he competes on the field.

Haughton (LA) 2021, University of Arkansas commit, SS
5 Star Performance shortstop Peyton Stovall appeared in only one Five Tool event this summer but led his team all the way to the Championship Game of the AABC Don Mattingly World Series as he put up eye-popping numbers out of the lead off spot. The 2021 University of Arkansas commit from Haughton (LA) showcased why some consider him to be one of the middle infielders in the nation as he took home the “Joseph R. Cooper” Batting Champion award in a tournament that featured some of the top talent in the 2021 class. The sweet swinging lefty hit a staggering .636 and drove the ball to all fields. Stovall is a name to know for all SEC baseball fans as he is going to be a fan favorite in Fayetteville. Get use to seeing this one shine under the game’s brightest lights.

Grand Oaks (TX) 2023, Rice University commit, SS
Marucci Elite TX 2023 Dado’s Larry Drake impressed week in and week out totaling a whopping 41 hits. Starting the summer uncommitted, the Rice commit from Grand Oaks (TX) 2023 showed the ability to hit for both average and power as well as crafting a mature approach at the plate which is rare at his age. The RHH stays on pitches all the way through the zone and drives the ball to all fields. Drake is already becoming a high-follow prospect and will only continue to impress as he develops and grows into his frame.

Bridgeland (TX) 2022, Uncommitted, 3B
Texas Twelve Maroon third baseman Conner Weigman had himself one incredible summer and two prestigious awards along the way. The uncommitted 2022 from Bridgeland (TX) played against the highest level of competition this summer and took his game to another level. He was named the Offensive MVP of the 2020 Pudge World Classic and the ‘Lincoln Hackim’ MVP of the AABC Don Mattingly World Series. This dude is a rare five tool talent and a can’t miss prospect that has college coaches lined up for a chance to land the superstar’s talents. Weigman is going to be the cornerstone in the lucky school’s 2022 Freshman Class.

Stix 2022 Heitz’s Christian Smith-Johnson had an excellent all-around summer and impressed scouts every time out. The uncommitted 2022 from Richland (TX) loves to play aggressive and provides great production out of the lead off spot in the order. The RHH posted great metrics at the SBC Invitational combine and will continue to develop plus speed as he grows. Look for Smith-Johnson to continue to make waves on the summer showcase circuit and has the potential to grow his game in all areas enhancing his tools along the way.

Smithson Valley (TX) 2022, Texas A&M commit, OF
Marucci Elite TX LaRue’s Kasen Wells proved to be a tough out at the dish this summer and has all the tools to shine out of the leadoff spot. The 2022 Texas A&M commit from Smithson Valley (TX) showcased the ability to drive the ball to all fields and featured big time speed on the base paths. The LHH just seems to have the knack for putting the bat on the ball, and he just finds ways to score putting. Wells scored 38 times on 28 hits and 11 walks this summer.

Dickinson (TX) 2020, Rice University signee, OF
Chargers 18U and Marucci Elite TX’s Guy Garibay proved why many consider him to be one of the best all-around hitters from the 2020 class in the state of Texas. Now at Rice and out of Dickinson (TX), Garibay was an absolute dude in the box and put up eye popping numbers in high school events and the Five Tool Premier Summer Collegiate League. The sweet-swinging lefty generates big time power with a violent lower half and can spray the ball all over the yard. In the Five Tool World Series, Garibay put up a Sunday to remember going 6-8 with two home runs, two doubles and six runs batted in helping his squad win the Championship (see embedded video below). Garibay is going to be an instrumental piece in the incoming freshman class at Rice. College baseball fans alike will get to know this one’s name in the coming years.
