Dudes of the Weekend: Week 3

Hitters

Caden Sorrell (UBC National)

UBC National’s Caden Sorrell made quite the statement in the Five Tool Texas AABC Connie Mack WS Qualifier. The 2023 Texas A&M commit from Marcus (TX) proved why he’s heralded as one of the state’s top players with a monster week at the plate in which he blasted three home runs and drove in 11 runs. The LHH is a true five tool type of player that can make an immediate impact and take over a game. It’s going to be fun to see what this dude does in his senior season at Marcus and as he transitions into SEC play in a couple of years.

Jayson Jones (Dallas Tigers Hernandez 2023)

Dallas Tigers Hernandez 2023’s Jayson Jones gave Caden Sorrell a run for his money for best offensive performance in the Five Tool Texas AABC Connie Mack WS Qualifier. The 2022 Arkansas signee from Braswell (TX) proved to be a tough out at the dish as he picked up a staggering 14 hits and sprayed the ball all over the yard. The RHH can have a powerful bat and put it on display at Weatherford College. This dude is joining an immensely talented Razorback team and will be fun to watch as he adjusts to big time college baseball.

Aden Howard (Dallas Tigers 2023 Hernandez)

Dallas Tigers 2023 Hernandez’s Aden Howard impressed on the big stage at the Five Tool Texas AABC Connie Mack WS Qualifier. The 2023 Dallas Baptist commit from Hebron (TX) seemed to make noise at the dish in each at bat as he picked up 10 hits over the week. The LHH has a sweet swing and showed off some speed on the base paths as he swiped seven bags. In the outfield, it was a no fly zone as Howard made several dazzling catches and helped out his pitching staff. This is a name that you will surely hear more from over the course of his senior season and as he transitions into collegiate ball at DBU.

Ryan Buenger (Texas Seminoles 18U)

Texas Seminoles 18U’s Ryan Buenger was one of the most productive players on the field this weekend. Buenger went 7-11 with a double, a triple, two home runs, ten runs scored, and another ten runs driven in.The 2023 uncommitted right hander from Anderson-Shiro (TX) has super quick hands that get to the ball extremely fast. His front foot barely moves when he loads for the ball and he still has the power to hit the ball hard. This is an advanced hitter at the plate, and he should continue to catch eyes the rest of this summer.

Stat Line: 7-11, 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 10R

Kirin Lawing (Rocky Mountain 18U)

Rocky Mountain 18U’s Kirin Lawing was an absolute beast at the plate this weekend. Lawing went 8-12 collecting two triples, a home run, twelve RBI’s, eight runs scored, two walks, and three stolen bases. The 2024 uncommitted stud out of Rocky Mountain (CO) has a powerful swing with impressive pull side pop. He was consistently driving the ball to left field and showed a quiet but effective swing. Lawing is a powerful bat and will get the chance to continue to show that this summer.

Jack Espiritu-Niswonger (Elite Baseball 16U Navy) 

Elite Baseball 16U Navy’s Jack Espiritu-Niswonger was an impressive player this weekend. The 2025 uncommitted Fairview (CO) product put up a 9-16 weekend with a triple, five RBI’s, nine runs, three walks, and nine stolen bases. He was spraying the ball all over the field and causing havoc on the bases. Espiritu-Niswonger uses his lower body extremely well on his swing. This is an impressive all-around player and eyes will be on him this summer.

Stat Line: 9-16, 3B, 5 RBI, 9R, 3 BB, 9 SB

Colby Wilkerson (East Texas Militia 17U/18U)

East Texas Militia 17U/18U’s Colby Wilkerson had himself a successful weekend at the plate. Wilkerson went 8-11, racking up a double, a triple, two runs driven in, and five runs scored. The 2022 Centenary College commit from Kilgore (TX) has a powerful swing from the left side and loves pulling the ball. Wilkerson has natural power and a swing that knows how to use it. This guy can really hit and it will be interesting to watch him moving forward.

Andrew Flodder (5 Star Performance 2025)

5 Star Performance 2025’s Andrew Flodder was a base hit machine in this past weekend’s event. Flodder went 7-10 with two doubles, a triple, four RBI’s, seven runs scored, two walks, and one stolen bag. The 2025 uncommitted product out of Van (TX) has a smooth stroke and advanced bat to ball skills at the plate. He sprays the ball all over the field and loves using the gaps to pick up extra bases. Flodder knows how to get the job done at the plate and should continue to do just that moving forward.

Stat: 7-10, 2 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, 7R, 2 BB, SB

William Johnson (Texas Twelve 2023 Gold)

Texas Twelve 2023 Gold’s William Johnson was a player that stood out this weekend. The 2023 uncommitted stud out of Prestonwood Christian Academy (TX) went 9-14 with three doubles, five runs driven in, six runs scored, four walks, and five stolen bases. Johnson times his stride well and gets his hands to the ball quickly. His swing plays to all fields and his approach helped him get on base consistently. This dude is an advanced hitter and someone that should continue to get eyes.

Harlin Hovater (BPA 2024)

BPA 2024’s Harlin Hovater proved to be a dude this past weekend. Hovater went 8-11 while putting up two doubles, two triples, four RBI’s, five runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. The uncommitted 2024 lefty from Magnolia Heights (MS) has a sweet stroke from the left side and hits the ball all over the field. He showed opposite field power with a ground rule double to left while also showing the ability to crank the ball to right field. This bat will play, and Hovater will look to  prove that to people even more as time goes on.

Justin Heffler (BPA 2024)

BPA 2024’s Justin Heffler was a big time producer for his team this weekend. The 2024 uncommitted right hander out of St. Augustine (CA) went 8-11 with a double, two triples, two walks, two runs driven in, and seven runs scored. Heffler stays low through the ball well and uses his lower body as a timer when loading up. He hits the ball all over the field, which is always impressive. This stud is someone to watch out for as he plays this summer.

Xavier Romero (MAC Elite 2024)

MAC Elite 2024’s Xavier Romero swung a hot bat this past weekend at the Five Tool New Mexico Mickey Mantle World Series Qualifier. The uncommitted 2024 from Volcano Vista (NM) really showed off the power tool as he picked up a double, triple, and home run in only 12 at bats. The RHH is quiet in the box but really explodes at contact and makes noise in each at bat. This dude typically impresses on the summer circuit and will be a fun watch over the course of the summer season.

Jaxon Spangler (NETX SEO Outlaws)

NETX SEO Outlaws’ Jaxon Spangler did just about everything this past weekend at the Five Tool Texas UTD/University of Dallas III. On the mound, the uncommitted 2024 from North Lamar (TX) put up some video game type numbers as he struck out a ridiculous 18 hitters in 8.1 innings of work. The LHP ran his fastball up to 86 MPH and featured good movement. At the plate, the LHH was a very tough out as he collected 11 hits and really showed off his speed tool as he smacked an inside-the-park home run, scored 11 runs, and stole seven bags. This dude was an absolute stud in all facets of the game and is quickly making a name for himself. Watch out for this one.

Brenden Murphy (CBA/SSC 2024 National)

CBA/SSC 2024 National’s Brenden Murphy lit it up this past weekend at the Five Tool California NorCal Kickoff. The uncommitted 2023 from Vacaville (CA) showcased traits of a prototypical lead off hitter as he just found a way to put the bat on the ball. The LHH has exceptional bat to ball skills and took what pitchers gave him, looking to drive the ball the other way if at all possible. Murphy is an intriguing prospect with lots of upside, get on this dude.

Max Garcia (NorCal Black 2024)

NorCal Black 2024’s Max Garcia was on fire at the plate in the Five Tool California NorCal Kickoff. The uncommitted 2024 from El Cerrito (CA) was a tough out at the dish and reached base 11 times on the weekend. The RHH had good bat to ball skills and looked to drive the ball the other way. This dude is a name to keep tabs on throughout the remainder of the summer circuit.

Gabe Camacho (Force Baseball Club 16U Prime)

Force Baseball Club 16U Prime’s Gabe Camacho was on an absolute tear at the dish this past weekend at the Five Tool California SoCal Regional. The 2023 Pacific University commit from La Costa Canyon was a tough out as he tallied 10 hits in only 14 at bats. The sweet-swinging lefty showcased some serious pop especially after destroying a two-run home run on Saturday night. Camacho has a strong base and lower half that he uses to provide power. This dude is a threat to make loud contact in each at-bat and is an exciting player to keep your eye on.

Ryder DeJournett (Trombly Tribe 2025)

Trombly Tribe 2025’s Ryder DeJournett was another Trombly player that impressed under the bright lights of the Five Tool California SoCal Regional. The uncommitted 2025 from Martin Luther King (CA) peppered the power alleys all weekend long and really impressed with his ability to stay through the ball and make noise at the dish. The RHH was a key contributor in his club’s run to the 15U Division title. This dude already has the make up of a future collegiate clean-up hitter and took a massive step towards becoming a hot name amongst scouts. Look out for this one down the road.

Evan Rolbiecki (Trombly Tribe 2023 Red)

Trombly Tribe 2023 Red’s Evan Rolbiecki was the very definition of a five tool player this past weekend in the Five Tool California SoCal Regional. The uncommitted 2023 from El Dorado (CA) showcased the ability to hit for both power and average as he blasted two home runs and hit a staggering .615. The RHH has a smooth stroke and quick bat that allows him to catch up to higher velocity. On the base paths, Rolbiecki was a nuisance to opposing squads as he swiped four bags and came around to score 10 times. This dude really showed off all that he brings to the game and is someone that should rise to the top of scout’s wish lists.

Cole Haisler (Waco Storm 15U Royals)

Waco Storm 15U Royals Cole Haisler was absolutely dominant on the mound this weekend. The 2025 righty from Belton High School (TX) went five innings, allowing zero hits and striking out twelve batters. Haisler has a tall and lanky frame that will help him as he grows into it more. He was getting swings and misses with both his fastball and his curveball, using both as an out pitch. A guy as dominant as he was should get attention, and he will do just that for the rest of the summer.

Harper Gates (Texas Twelve 2026 Black)

Texas Twelve 2026 Black’s Harper Gates was another dude that impressed on the bump this weekend. The 2026 uncommitted right hander out of Tomball (TX) threw six and a third innings while racking up eight strikeouts and allowing no runs. His fastball sat 80-83 MPH and even touched 84 MPH, while the slider sat in the 70-72 MPH range. Harper’s slider featured impressive break and was a perfect out pitch. This arm had filthy stuff and was flashing it non stop.

CJ Sampson (Texas Twelve 2026 Black)

Texas Twelve 2026 Black’s CJ Sampson was a powerful force on the hill this weekend. The uncommitted righty from Tomball (TX) went six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and racking up ten strikeouts. He showed a balanced delivery that helped him locate all around the strike zone with ease. His fastball sat 82-85 MPH and touched 86 MPH, the curveball was sitting 72-74 MPH, and the changeup was sitting 77-78 MPH. The fastball was successful enough itself and having the impressive off speed pitches to play off of it was impressive. This is a dude with huge potential.

Michael Caelub Ledsome (LBC American Agis)

LBC American Agis’ Michael Caelub Ledsome was cooking his opponents on the mound this weekend. The 2023 uncommitted right hander from Johnson (TX) went five shutout innings while collecting 13 strikeouts and allowing just two hits. He was in full command of the strike zone with the fastball and set up hitters for his big breaking ball. The curveball was mighty impressive with its sharp and heavy break. It was pure domination for Ledsome on the mound.

Maddox Keo (BVR 17 Maroon)

BVR 17 Maroon’s Maddox Keo shoved on the mound this weekend. The left hander went five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out twelve batters. The 2024 uncommitted lefty from Willis (TX) sat 85-87 MPH with the fastball and touched 88 MPH, while also sitting 76-77 MPH with his curveball. Keo was all over the zone and was extremely comfortable throwing his breaking ball in any situation. He throws a little across his body, giving hitters an interesting angle and making it one uncomfortable at bat for the hitters. This big left hander should continue to put up big numbers on the mound.

Joseph Marek (MAC Elite 2024)

MAC Elite 2024’s Joseph Marek dominated on the bump in last Saturday’s action at the Five Tool New Mexico Mickey Mantle World Series Qualifier. The uncommitted 2024 from Hope Christian (NM) was unhittable as he racked up 11 strikeouts in a complete game shut out. The RHP utilizes a high leg kick and really engages his lower half to provide velocity. This dude has high upside on the mound and is an interesting name to keep an eye on moving forward.

Nic Peterson (Tustin Scorpions)

Tustin Scorpions’ Nic Peterson put together one of the most dominant performances of the summer on Saturday night in the Five Tool California SoCal regional. The uncommitted 2023 out of Orange Lutheran (CA) racked up a ridiculous 15 punchouts in a complete game shut out. The LHP ran his fastball up to 84 MPH and proved to be a difficult arm to pick up. Peterson lived in and around the zone all night long and commanded his offspeed well. It will be fun to watch this one as he heads into his senior season and looks to lead Orange Lutheran to a deep postseason run. This dude won’t be uncommitted for long, get on him now!

Hunter Long (Trombly Tribe 2023 Red)

Trombly Tribe 2023 Red’s Hunter Long was lights out in his start Friday evening in the Five Tool California SoCal Regional. The 2023 Michigan State commit from Capistrano Valley Christian (CA) was an imposing figure on the mound as he stands tall at 6’7. The RHP ran his fastball up to 86 MPH and relied on the pitch to overwhelm hitters on his way to 11 strikeouts. This dude is extremely talented and is a name worth remembering throughout the rest of the summer circuit.

Benjamin Dominguez (Trombly Tribe 2025)

Trombly Tribe 2025’s Benjamin Dominguez certainly turned heads after a strong performance on thee mound in the Five Tool California SoCal Regional this past weekend. The uncommitted 2025 from Servite (CA) was up to 82 MPH with his fastball and utilizes an over-the-top throwing motion that makes it difficult for hitters to track the ball. Standing tall at 6’6, this dude will have lots of room to grow and add muscle to an already impressive frame. The RHP is going to be a name to watch over the course of the next couple of years and has potential to be a dominant strikeout machine after picking up 10 punchouts in 5 innings of work this weekend.
