Skills Baseball 17U’s Houston Russell put together an impressive weekend in all facets of the game at the Five Tool Club Championships. The 2021 Seminole State commit from Carl Albert (OK) was a rock behind the plate and showcased a cannon of an arm. At the plate, the RHH keeps his hands inside the ball and stays on it all the way through the zone. Russell racked up a staggering 13 RBI and proved to fit the mold of a prototypical cleanup hitter. Really impressed with this one.

SA Kings Gold 2023’s Christopher Ramirez turned heads this past weekend at the Five Tool South Texas Summer Finale. The uncommitted 2023 from South San (TX) was locked in at the plate as five of his eight hits went for extra bases. The RHH uses a quiet load and quick hands in what looks to be a very polished swing. Behind the plate, Ramirez was defensively sound and showed off the hose piece. This one impressed in all areas of the game and is an up and coming prospect to watch.

Texas Steel’s Noah Hammack crushed the ball at the Five Tool South Texas Summer Finale this past weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Thrall (TX) has a very sweet swing and great bat speed at the plate. The RHH crushed two home runs in one game and led the way in an impressive weekend for Texas Steel. Hammack is a dude to watch as he burst onto the scene and looks to keep building momentum this spring in his junior year.

Texas Steel’s Daniel Howell formed quite the one-two punch with fellow Dude of the Weekend, Noah Hammack. Next Level 2021’s Tyler Herrera put together an unbelievable weekend on the bump at the Five Tool Club Championships. Colorado Yard Dawgs 2023’s Hunter Gotschall turned out a dominant outing on Sunday afternoon at the Five Tool Club Championships. The uncommitted 2023 from Calhan (CO) featured a low 80s fastball and kept hitters off balance with a devastating curveball that was nearly 20 MPH slower than his top fastball velocity. The RHP really utilizes a strong lower half to generate velocity and has the look of a future workhorse ace. Gotschall is a very intriguing prospect to keep an eye on over the course of the next few years.

DBAT Elite 16U Tompkins’ Bennett Fryman was locked in on the mound this past weekend at the Five Tool Club Championships. The 2023 Texas A&M commit from Frisco Lone Star (TX) features a mid 80s fastball and a nasty breaking ball that overwhelms opposing hitters. The LHP has rare fastball velocity for his age and is only going to continue to grow. Fryman effectively tunnels his fastball that runs away from right handed hitters with his big breaking ball and leaves hitters guessing. This dude is a standout prospect that is going to be a whole lot of fun to watch in the coming years.

TRPD’s Otto Franz has quietly flown under the radar all summer long and consistently dominates hitters on the mound. The 2020 Concordia University commit from Austin (TX) is the true definition of an ace on the mound. The LHP typically sits in the low to mid 80s with his fastball, but does all of his damage with a nasty breaking ball. Week in and week out Franz puts together spectacular performances and puts his team in a position to win. Keep an eye on this one as he is set to begin his freshman year at Concordia this fall.

The uncommitted 2023 from Sharyland Pioneer (TX) looked to be in control on the mound and features very refined mechanics for his age. The ball just seems to jump out of the RHP’s hand. Texas Pro United Luna’s Daniel Cardona turned out a fantastic outing on the mound in his only start at the Five Tool South Texas Summer Finale. The 2020 Frank Phillips JC commit from Holy Cross (TX) showed off a mid to upper 80s fastball and was impressive with his pinpoint control. The RHP is poised and confident on the mound as he just mows down hitters with a refined pitch mix. There’s a lot to like about this dude and will be an interesting pitcher to follow as he is set to debut at Frank Phillips JC this fall. Cardona has the chance to add velocity once he gets into a collegiate strength program. Watch out.
