Texas Twelve Maroon 2023’s Blake Mitchell was instrumental in his squad capturing the title at the Pudge Rodriguez World Classic this weekend. The 2023 LSU commit from Sinton (TX) got it done on both the mound and at the plate to showcase his two-way potential. The LHH utilizes a compact swing in the box to spray line drives and make consistent hard contact. On the bump the RHP touches 91 MPH with a fastball that has late life to bust in on the hands of righties and a sharp curveball with nearly 20 MPH of difference that makes batters look lost in the box. With these previously mentioned skills, it’s easy to forget he’s also a catcher that uses his arm strength to throw lasers down to second base and hose runners. He’s unquestionably a top of the line prospect in all facets.

Altitude Prospects 2022’s Nick Bolek was a run-producing beast at the plate this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Ralston Valley (CO) is a physical presence in the box that stands out among the competition. The right-handed batter starts out in a crouched position to generate plenty of power from the lower half with quick hands that extend the barrel well to hit balls to all fields with authority. Solid prospect that scouts need to keep an eye on.

Dallas Tigers Polk’s Jared Thomas could have been playing for Aaron Boone and the Yankees this weekend because he was definitely a “savage in the box”. The 2022 Texas commit from Waxahachie (TX) crushed baseballs all over the field, leading to 7/9 of his hits on the tournament to be for extra bases. The sweet-swinging lefty generates plus bat speed and launch angle with balanced, yet powerful hacks to punish baseballs. He also has the ability to make consistent contact, as evidenced by his zero strikeouts on the weekend. Although he didn’t pitch this weekend, he’s also a solid LHP who uses a shorter delivery to get fastballs on batters quickly and dominate. Excellent prospect to watch in college.

North Texas Longhorns 2025’s Luke Billings played well above his age at the Five Tool Show 15U/16U Championships this weekend. The uncommitted 2025 from Prosper (TX) isn’t even in high school yet, but he could still start on many varsity rosters as is. The right-handed hitter takes more controlled Javier Baez-esque hacks at the plate with elite pull-side power to launch baseballs. His ability to draw walks and stay on breaking balls makes him a surefire Division 1 prospect scouts will be drooling over in the coming years.

UB Texas Harvey’s Cade Binion made his pitchers very appreciative of his run-scoring and producing abilities this weekend. The uncommitted 2023 from Hebron (TX) has nice quick-twitch muscles and plays the game with intensity to make game-changing plays and fire up his squad. The LHH uses the aforementioned quick-twitch muscles and direct barrel-to-ball swing to hit balls where they’re pitched with ease. He uses his speed and aggressiveness on the base paths as well as a very mature approach at the plate to force the opposition into mistakes (he walked seven times in twenty plate appearances this weekend). This is the kind of player any coach would want on their team and colleges should take note.

Dallas Patriots 17U Durham’s Jake Koczo was on a tear at the plate this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Wakeland (TX) uses his big frame at 6’2” 195 lbs to rip the barrel through the zone and repeatedly smoke the ball. With a combination of good barrel extension and a high finish, the right-handed hitter drives the ball deep into the gaps for extra-base hits with ease. His 5-5 performance on Saturday was good for a cycle and certainly one of the most impressive performances of the weekend. Solid offensive prospect to watch this summer.

The uncommitted 2022 from Mansfield Lake Ridge (TX) showcased his ability to find a way on base and rack up extra bags.
