Pocket Radar Five Tool Texas Hot List (June 1-July 1)

With a full month of baseball complete in the summer of Five Tool, we take a quick look at the top velocities recorded by Pocket Radar at our Texas region events.

When looking through the list, players are sorted by their top fastball velocities. Change up, curveball and sliders that were recorded are placed on the list as well. There are duplicate players for those who participated in more than one Five Tool Texas event.

Among the leaders of the hardest fastball is D-BAT Elite North Dallas RHP Cam Brown. The TCU commit out of Flower Mound (TX) 2020 hit 94 MPH in the Five Tool Texas DFW Kickoff and 93 MPH in the Five Tool Show. Check out the video of the Pocket Radar Five Tool 90 Club member below:

With plenty of commits headlining the list, there are a few uncommitted prospects who stick out. Stix 2020 Heitz RHP Mason Speaker – All Saints (TX) 2020 – has been picking up plenty of interest before and after hitting 90 MPH in the Five Tool Show. Hayden Vanderroest – Shallowater (TX) 2019 – of Elite 5 Baseball hit 89 MPH in the Five Tool SHSU/Rice event. However, it is not noted on the list that Vanderroest hit 93 MPH the following week at the Five Tool Midwest WSU Classic. Check out his video below.

Other uncommitted prospects of note include NTXBC Dirtbags Woods RHP Micah Berens – Timber Creek (TX) 2019 – who hit 90 this past weekend at the Five Tool West Duke City Championships, LoneStar Baseball RHP Storm Hierholzer – Lake Travis (TX) 2020 – who hit 90 in the Five Tool Show, and RHP Elijah McCormack – Coppell (TX) 2019 – who was up to 88 MPH in the Five Tool Houston Kickoff for Dallas Tigers Doe (see below).

While the list is primarily dominated by right-handed pitchers, several uncommitted lefties still make the list. Marucci Elite TX 2019 Thistlethwaite LHP Austin Teel – College Station (TX) 2019 – was up to 88 MPH in the Houston Kickoff with a 73 MPH curveball. In Five Tool SHSU/Rice, Teel worked in the 84-86 MPH range with a 75-77 slider (see below). Academy Select Baseball 17U Hayes LHP Jack Hattrup – Plano West (TX) 2019 – touched 88 MPH in the Cowtown Classic. Hattrup carried a no-hitter into the seventh and finished the game with four strikeouts and one hit. The week before in the Five Tool AABC World Series Qualifier, Hattrup threw eight total innings with eight strikeouts, one hit and one walk. Check out video of Hattrup below.

A few more uncommitted lefties of note include Action Baseball 17 Jackson LHP Bryson Bales – Cedar Ridge (TX) 2019, Lou Collier DB / A’s LHP Isaiah Coupet – Homewood Flossmor (IL) 2020, and Premier Baseball Futures 2020 Mathis LHP Noah Smith – Cy-Falls (TX) 2020.
