The Dallas Patriots 2021 earned their spot in the AABC Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico after defeating Stix 2021 and winning the Five Tool Texas AABC Connie Mack WS Qualifier.

In Game 1 of the best-of-three matchup on Saturday night, the Patriots had a big fourth inning which gave them a two-run lead.

Mason Poppen got the scoring started for his team as he hit a triple into right field that allowed both Case Petts and Trenton Bush to cross home plate. Poppen was able to advance home on the next play when Josiah Lewis singled into the outfield.

Lewis was the only player for the Patriots that produced a multi-hit day as he went 2-4 with one run batted in. Poppen was able to do his job in the six hole as he went 1-2 with three RBI.

The Patriots were patient at the plate as they were able to draw eight walks against the Stix pitching staff.

RHP Casey Kelly was able to go four innings for Stix Baseball 2021. Even though he gave up three hits, no runs crossed the plate while he crossed the mound and he was able to strike out four batters.

On the other side, RHP Cooper Hrbacek got the start for the Patriots and did exactly what he needed to do on the mound. He struck out five batters through six innings. He only gave up five hits and three runs while only one of those one runs were earned.

RHP Tanner Reaves was able to come in in the seventh and get the save and his team was one win away from going to the Connie Mack World Series. Patriots won Game 1, 6-3.

All that was needed in Game 2 was a big inning from either team and that happened for both teams early on.

Stix struck first and struck early as they put four runs on the board in the first inning. They were not able to score the rest of the game as pitching from the Patriots shut down their offense.

Each of the starting four players in the Stix lineup were able to score for their team. Mason Shimkus had two runs batted in and two hits on the day. Ty Johnson had the other RBI in the game for his team.

The fourth inning was the Patriots’ for the second game in a row. They were able to plate five runs in the inning giving them the advantage that they needed.

Reaves went 2-4 on the day with a double, a triple and one RBI. Chase Pendley also had a multi-hit game.

Both starting pitchers were able to go the distance and go five innings for their teams. RHP Caleb Bunch of Stix was able to strike out five batters throughout the game while giving up nine hits.

RHP Casey Workman of the Patriots was able to strike out four in his five innings of work while only giving up five hits. He also gave up four runs which only three were earned.

It was Reaves who came in for the last two innings to pick up the save once again. He battled with a runner in scoring position to get the final fly out and a victory for the Patriots, 5-4.

With the win against Stix, the Patriots earned a travel stipend and trip to Farmington to compete for the end of the summer AABC Connie Mack World Series.
