Marucci Elite Texas 2023 Dado’s Landon Hunt crushed the baseball this weekend at Five Tool Texas Houston. An uncommitted 2023 from Clear Brook (TX), Hunt has already developed pull side power that is rare at his age. As the RHH continues to develop he will only add more strength and pop at the plate. Hunt is a can’t miss prospect that will make waves on the summer showcase circuit over the course of the next two summers.

Zeke Velazquez (ZT Elite NTX Gray 17U)
ZT Elite NTX Gray 17U’s Zeke Velazquez exploded onto the scene at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown this weekend. An uncommitted 2022 from Woodrow Wilson (TX), Velazquez racked up six extra-base-hits as he showcased a very polished swing and approach at the dish. The RHH highlighted great pop at the plate and proved that he can be a key slugger at the top of the order. This dude has a chance to be special.

Stix 2023 Mendoza’s Ethan Mendoza was a force in the box at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown. The uncommitted 2023 from Southlake Carroll (TX) showcased a little bit of everything this weekend. The RHH highlighted the ability to hit for both average and power as well as his quickness. Mendoza has a very smooth swing that features a leg kick to generate power at the plate. Watch out for this one on the summer showcase circuit the rest of the way.

McKinney Marshals 18U Hadeler’s Clayton Berryhill showcased some extreme power this weekend at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown Satellite Series. The 2020 Oklahoma Wesleyan signee launched three home runs and proved to be a dude that can be a problem for opposing pitchers as he picked up a whopping nine RBI. Watch for Berryhill to keep blasting home runs at OKWU this spring.

USA Prime Houston Smith’s Kevin Hovance was unhittable in a dominant performance at Five Tool Texas Houston. An uncommitted 2020 from Seven Lakes (TX), Hovance struck out a whopping 13 in a six inning no-hitter. The RHP featured great off-speed pitches that kept hitters off balance and really complimented his fastball. Hovance’s true strength lies in his control and ability to command several secondary pitches. Get on this one, a 2020 graduate that is looking for a home in the fall and can provide versatility to a collegiate pitching staff.

Cole Whorrall (USA Prime Houston Smith)
USA Prime Houston Smith’s Cole Whorrall formed a formidable 1-2 punch with teammate Kevin Hovance at Five Tool Texas Houston this weekend. The uncommitted 2021 from Grand Oaks (TX) was dominant in a complete game shutout on Saturday evening. The LHP proved to be extremely deceptive as he throws from a three-quarter arm slot and hides the ball well. Whorrall featured a very effective curveball that put hitters away all night long. Look for Whorrall to make noise in his senior season at Grand Oaks.

DFW Twins 17U’s Jake Pacheco tossed a brilliant game this weekend at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown. The uncommitted 2021 from Southwest Christian (TX) featured a very effective slurve-like breaking ball that he used all afternoon to sit hitters down. The RHP was in and around the zone in his five innings of work and proved he could command a number of pitches extremely well. Watch out for Pacheco to make noise the rest of the summer and into next spring.

Dallas Tigers DeLaGarza’s Bryce Marquardt was absolutely dominant in three innings of work at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown. The uncommitted 2022 from Waxahachie (TX) featured a deceptive over the top motion that proved difficult for hitters to track. The RHP has room to add velocity as he grows into his frame in the next year. Marquardt has great strikeout stuff and mows down hitters as every out he recorded this weekend came via a punchout. Continue to look for this dude to fill up the zone and rack up strikeouts.

GPS Legends 16U Elmore’s Seth Taylor was electric on the mound this weekend at the Five Tool South Texas Alamo Classic. The uncommitted 2022 from Brentwood Christian (TX) featured a very effective fastball that hitters just could not catch up with. The RHP has good arm action and uses his lower half well. Keep an eye on Taylor as he continues to grow into his frame.

MVP Savage’s Kaleb Melvin was fantastic on the mound at the Five Tool Texas Summer Showdown Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2021 from Calumet (OK) featured great strikeout stuff as he racked up 13 over the course of six innings. The RHP has a mid 80s fastball and good secondary pitches that kept hitters off balance all night long. Melvin has a great frame and will only continue to add velocity as he grows. This one can be a difference maker on the mound, get on him.

McKinney Marshals 18U Hadeler’s Sutten Tidwell was electric on the bump at the Five Tool Summer Showdown Satellite Series. The incoming sophomore at Vernon College from Gainesville (TX) features a very deceptive motion that messes with hitter’s timing. Tidwell has a variety of pitches he can command well with a mid to upper 80s fastball. The LHP is going to be a name to watch in the spring.
