8 on 8 Baseball
Two-day individual events
Day 1 of two-day individual events will consist of a college style workout with players participating in 60-yard dash, infield/outfield velocity, batting practice with bat exit speed. Testing results will be available to the players to compare by position and by graduating year. The results will also be sent to all of the universities and professional organizations that support Five Tool Showcases. Day 2 will have games played in “8-on-8” style where the ninth “player” is a pitching machine or live batting practice pitcher. This leads to the fast-paced environment with plenty of swings and plenty of reps in the field. Players will be evaluated in all five tools of baseball and given feedback regarding their skill sets and individual performances during the event. As in all Five Tool events, the staff will be active in reporting outstanding performance on Twitter and on the Five Tool website.
One-day individual events
The one-day individual event is designed to provide repetitions at game speed. It will include the 60-yard dash, pop times, and IF/OF velocities. There will be a second session on this day which consists of an 8 on 8 scrimmage for two hours.
Teams are guaranteed three games in a tournament-style 8 on 8 event in Dallas-Fort Worth. Teams are required to have 14 players (5 OF, 4 MIF, 3 CIF, 2 C) to compete in the fast-paced 8 on 8 Baseball. Full statistics and game results will be posted. Players will receive full social media coverage. Baseballs will be provided for the showcase.
